GARTH VIEW: THE LAST DAYS.

May 6th, the Sunday between our two weeks of filming: the ‘Bolton Wanderers’, a quiz team made up of three couples all into motorhoming, took part for the last time at the Eden Vale Inn. We didn’t do as well as usual, but never mind!

Various family members made final visits; not all got photographed, but Philip’s departure from Appleby Station on the Settle-Carlisle line was recorded:

Welcome? Shouldn’t that be ‘Go well?’

For some there were moments of relaxation:

For others, there were jobs to do – how many men does it take to free a seized hinge?

And what are we going to do without a motorhome engineer for a neighbour?

Friday 18th: and some half an hour earlier than expected, the removal lorry arrived.

A ramp is set up from the little gate to the side of the lorry, and the big carry-out began.

To our surprise, the bar was completely cleared within minutes – we THINK it all went into boxes!

Didn’t there used to be a piano there?

Overnight that corner looked like this:

The office and the kitchen got packed up:

Outside, Harry kept an eye on one end of the proceedings:

While Sally watched discreetly from the other:

Haven’t seen a clean and tidy (empty) shed for years!

The cleaner was last to be loaded!

Not her – the Dyson! Then “Off went the van with me ‘ome packed in it!” We hope to see it all again in 6 – 8 weeks’ time!

That evening S.K.T. cooked his last 2 meals at G.V. , using Harry’s pans and utensils. TWO meals? That’s right – one for then, and one to have after travelling on Monday evening.
